PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR: Cristina González Fernández RESEARCH CENTER: Institute of Sustainable Processes – University of Valladolid JOB POSITION: Postdoctoral contract in "Anaerobic digestion of high ionic strength waste streams" PROJECT TITLE: Methane production via anaerobic digestion using high ionic strength waste streams PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project supports the ambitious goal set by the European Union aiming to produce 35 billion cubic meters of biomethane by 2030 as a replacement for natural gas.
By demonstrating the potential of using high strength waste streams for methane production through anaerobic digestion, this project will play a crucial role in advancing circular economy principles.
Tasks to be performed include: Explore the relationship between methane production and microbial populations.
Assess the physical structure of anaerobic microbial systems.
Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.
Writing project proposals to national and international calls related to the topic.
Supervision of PhD, Master or undergraduate students.
DURATION: 01/01/2025 – 31/12/2026 REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE: Ph.D. degree in biotechnology, chemical engineering, chemistry or related areas.
Proven expertise on anaerobic digestion technology.
Bioinformatics.
Experienced in national and international research projects and collaborations.
Strong publication record.
Oral and written communication skills in English.
