Currently, we are looking for a Researcher in Environmental and Human Risk Assessment.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Execution of experimental and theoretical tasks for the projects in which the group is involved.
• Carrying out measurement campaigns to determine the emission/release of various materials, including emerging contaminants (e.g., nanomaterials, PFAs, etc.), in different scenarios using air measurement equipment and sampling devices.
• Assessing workers' and consumers' exposure using exposure assessment models such as ART, Stoffenmanager, ConsExpo, among others.
• Critically analyzing and interpreting experimental data/results, whether generated or extracted from other sources (models, databases).
• Presentation of scientific results in different contexts, including project meetings, conferences and workshops.
• Contributing to the writing of the technical section of funding proposals.
• Collaborating in the organization of dissemination activities and the promotion of the group's activities.

What do we expect from you?

PhD in Science: Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related field.

A Master's degree or courses in air monitoring, source apportionment, exposure assessment, and human and environmental risk assessment will be positively valued.

• Experience in air measurements and exposure assessment of workers and consumers.
• Experience in risk analysis of substances, nanomaterials, contaminants, or other related areas.
• Knowledge of exposure/risk assessment tools and models for substances, materials, contaminants, among others.
• Understanding of the "Safe and Sustainable by Design" concept, particularly about safety in material production and product use.
• Experience in the implementation and technical coordination of projects.
• Experience in drafting proposals for new projects, reports, or project justifications both in Spanish and English.
• Experience in the analysis and interpretation of experimental results or data for various purposes.
• Participation in technology transfer activities.
• Experience working directly or indirectly with the industry.

You will excel in this position if you bring:

• Motivation and commitment.
• Ability to communicate and present results in different forums (scientific, industrial, educational).
• Capacity to critically extract and analyze information from scientific literature.

Actualmente buscamos un/a Investigador/a en la unidad Skin Health & Cosmetics dentro de Drug Development Area del Health & Biomedicine Deparment.

Tus principales funciones serán:

• Evaluación de la eficacia de diversos tipos de productos, principalmente de aplicación tópica, incluyendo principios activos, combinación de ellos o prototipos de formulación para aplicación dermofarmacéutica, productos sanitarios tópicos, ingredientes, activos o formulaciones cosméticas y personal care.
• Puesta a punto y realización de ensayos en base celular / in vitro / Ex vivo.
• Manejo de modelos celulares, tridimensionales o tisulares.
• Definición de protocolos y diseño experimental.
• Ejecución técnica de proyectos: Planificación experimental, desarrollo, gestión de costes y cumplimiento de requisitos.
• Contacto y gestión de proveedores que asegure la disposición de materiales necesarios para el desarrollo del proyecto asignado.
• Análisis crítico de datos y redacción de informes. Exposición de resultados (oral y escrita) a clientes.

¿Qué esperamos de ti?

Licenciatura o Grado, + máster o doctor en ciencias de la Salud: biología, farmacia, biotecnología, bioquímica o similar.

Además, triunfaras en la posición si aportas experiencia en:

• Trabajo previo en laboratorio de mínimo 3 años sea asociado a departamento R&D de empresas, preferiblemente del sector farmacéutico, biotecnológico o cosmético, o bien en laboratorio de grupos de investigación en el área biológica / biomédica.
• Dominio de técnicas de cultivo celular, ensayos in vitro y manejo de explantes de piel.
• Experiencia en puesta a punto de protocolos experimentales e implementación de técnicas.

Introduction to the vacant position: The Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Group is looking for a Chemistry Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the development of self-propelled nanobots for translational approaches within biomedicine.

The contract will be within the framework of the ERC Proof-of-Concept named iNanoSwarms Project, which aims to develop enzyme-powered nanoparticles capable of self-propelling using bioavailable fuels and display collective and cooperative behaviour through communication among them as well as with the host environment.

Main tasks and responsibilities: Synthesis and characterization of biocompatible and biodegradable inorganic (e.g., mesoporous silica, gold nanoparticles, iron oxide nanoparticles) and organic (e.g., lipidic, polymeric, hydrogel-based) nanocarriers.

Characterization of the physico-chemical structure of the nanoparticles/nanomotors and study of enzyme functionalization and drug loading/release capabilities of nanoparticles for the development of precision and personalized nanobots.

Design of nanobots to be used as active smart drug delivery systems and guide bachelor, master, and PhD students.

Interaction and reporting within the group and with private foundations and companies, actively working in the development of new ideas that give rise to future and/or evolution of projects and generation of intelligence.

Requirements for candidates: Essential: PhD in the field of chemistry, biochemistry, nanobiotechnology, pharmacy, nanomedicine, or similar.

Experience in nanoparticle synthesis, and characterization of biocompatible and/or biodegradable inorganic (e.g., mesoporous silica, gold nanoparticles, iron oxide nanoparticles) and organic (e.g., lipidic, polymeric, hydrogel-based) nanocarriers.

Knowledge of common characterization techniques in chemistry (NMR, FTIR, DLS, Z-potential, GPC, HPLC chromatography, SEM, TEM, AFM, spectroscopy equipment, etc.).

Knowledge of modulating polymers/poly-peptides and experience grafting the surface of the NPs (e.g., surface grafting with polymers to reduce protein corona effect, anchoring an antibody/enzyme).

Advantageous: Experience in drug loading and drug delivery studies with therapeutic small molecules.

Basic knowledge of fluorescence microscopy.

Estamos buscando una persona para realizar su Doctorado con nosotros, ligado al proyecto “Assessing Circular Rebound Effects under Sustainability Science” (CARE) que forma parte de un proyecto europeo de investigación e innovación financiado por el programa HORIZON. El objetivo es transformar los sistemas de alimentación abordando las pérdidas y desperdicios mediante datos fiables e implicando a los actores claves en un marco unificado para evaluar los impactos económicos, ambientales y sociales, impulsando el camio de sistema y promoviendo prácticas sostenibles en Europa.

La persona seleccionada se centrará en:

• Desarrollar el marco teórico y de modelaje para cuantificar los efectos rebote de las acciones de prevención de perdida de alimentos, siguiendo los principios del análisis del ciclo de vida y de la ciencia de la sostenibilidad.
• Cuantificar el rendimiento ambiental, social y económico asociados a dos pilotos centrados en el sector cárnico en España y el sector de frutas y verduras en Grecia.
• Crear modelos generalizables e integrados en programas de cálculos basados en el análisis de ciclo de vida, especialmente el software Brightway.
• Proponer acciones de mejora en base a los resultados obtenidos, tanto en el marco de los pilotos del proyecto como a nivel Europeo.
• Redactar informes y artículos científicos.
• Asistir a las reuniones relacionadas con el proyecto, sean online o presencial.
• Trasladar los conocimientos de la investigación al sector de la construcción, donde se realiza la principal actividad de Grupo Construcía.
• Apoyar proyectos fuera del doctorado desarrollados por EIG en el área de Life Cycle Sustainability (LCS).

Ofrecemos una oportunidad única para desarrollar un doctorado industrial en una consultoría pionera en promoción e implementación en economía circular, bajo la supervisión y tutorización de dos centros de investigación referentes por su excelencia científica e investigación teórica y empírica en economía y ciencias ambientales: el Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología y Tecnología Ambientales (ICTA-UAB) y el Instituto de Análisis Económica (IAE-CSIC).

Este proyecto estará tutorizado por diferentes doctores y profesores especializados en LCS, Ingeniería, Ambiental y Análisis económico, personas con presencia tanto en el ámbito empresarial como académico.

Requisitos deseables:

• Licenciatura y máster oficial en Ciencias Aplicadas/ Sociales o Ingeniería relacionados con la Economía Circular (Ciencias Ambientales, Química, Física, Matemáticas, Estadística, Economía, Ingeniería Industrial, Informática, etc.).
• Nota media en el expediente académico igual o superior a 6.5 sobre 10, calculada sobre el total de créditos de los estudios superiores que dan acceso a los estudios oficiales de doctorado.

About Crag

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Responsibilities

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a Postdoc Researcher to be part of the group “Environmental control of plant and algae growth”.

The candidate will be in charge of advancing in the molecular mechanisms of photoprotection in Arabidopsis.

The tasks are included within the framework of the project PID2021 - CONVOCATORIA 2021 «PROYECTOS DE GENERACIÓN DE CONOCIMIENTO» EN EL MARCO DEL PROGRAMA ESTATAL PARA IMPULSAR LA INVESTIGACIÓN CIENTÍFICO-TÉCNICA Y SU TRANSFERENCIA, DEL PLAN ESTATAL DE INVESTIGACIÓN CIENTÍFICA, TÉCNICA Y DE INNOVACIÓN 2021-2023.

Requirements

Educational requirements: PhD in Plant Biology, Biology, Biotechnology, or similar.
