Summer Internship
About Rorshok - We build tools for people who want to build real communities, not audiences, not fake “engagement,” not platforms designed to keep people scrolling. Some of what we build looks like software. Some of it doesn’t. All of it is about helping people connect in ways that actually work. All our tools are free and we are a permanently not-for-profit legal entity. We call ourselves post-profit.
About the Internship
We’re looking for a junior or senior to spend the summer either in-person in Barcelona, Spain or remotely working with Rorshok on community building.
Most remote interns should be prepared to work two hours each week day. Barcelona-based interns will work six hours each week day.
We expect interns to work with us in the June-August period.
This internship is a modest time commitment but real engagement. The work is experimental by design. You’ll test ways to introduce people to Rorshok’s tools for community building, explore unexpected use cases, let us know how it goes and figure out what it means.
If you’re already pretty sure you know what this means, you’re probably not the right person, because we don’t.
If you’re curious about figuring it out with us, you might be.
This is for those who enjoy the mission and work and do it well.
We have several areas of work for interns to engage in, based on their interests and skills. So you may contribute to some or all of these:
- Run small, concrete experiments in community building with other interns - including organizing in-person gatherings in your area
- Engage with specific communities of personal interest and choice to produce Ourzines using Rorshok software
- Introduce people to Rorshok’s tools and help them engage in ways that are not like traditional marketing
- Work on ideas and strategies for Rorshok’s sustainability
- Research emerging corporate registration models relevant for post-profit entities like Rorshok
- Notice what works, what fails, and why. Iterate quickly
- Communicate clearly about results, not just ideas
- Well-organized people who are curious, like ambiguity and unfinished systems
- Comfortable reaching out to strangers without scripts
- Interested in community, culture, technology, or organizing
- Able to work independently, without constant supervision
- Not social media management
- Not brand marketing or brand ambassador puffery
- Not busywork
- Not a traditional internship with step-by-step instructions
Please don’t send a ridiculous formal AI cover letter.
- Look at rorshok.com. It’s out-of-date and befuddled but you’ll get the idea.
- Email us at info at rorshok dot com
- In a short note, tell us:
- who you are
- why this caught your attention
- any early questions or ideas you already have
We care more about curiosity, insight, and brevity than polish.
Info at rorshok dot com. Put Summer internship in the subject line.
Applications are rolling. We will hire when we find the right fit, so early applications have an advantage.
