About The Role
Dow Jones Risk & Compliance is a global provider of third-party risk management and regulatory compliance solutions. We deliver data, research tools and services to help our clients meet anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and economic sanctions regulations and mitigate third-party risk.
You will join a team of multilingual experts who research, record and update details on entities owned by sanctioned subjects and state-owned entities from specific countries for the Sanctions Control & Ownership (SCO) content set within Dow Jones Risk & Compliance. You will report to the Manager, Sanctions Control & Ownership. You will be based in Barcelona.
You Will
- Create and update profiles of entities owned by sanctioned subjects and state-owned entities (Sanctions Control & Ownership - SCO) for specific countries by continually monitoring and analysing relevant publicly available sources including company websites, business registers and media sources.
- Research and extract relevant data adhering to guidelines on SCO selection, data coverage and accuracy standards
- Ensure that profiles are complete, accurate and up-to-date
- Respond in writing to clients' questions about SCO content
- Monitor changes in anti-money laundering regulations
- Write due diligence reports on companies and/or individuals as required and contribute to other projects
- Support R&C with translation services as and when required
- Contribute to workflow improvements and tool efficiencies
- Fluency in English and Ukrainian/Russian
- Excellent research, analytical and writing skills
- Proofreading skills and experience in handling large volumes of information
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
- A reliable and responsible attitude
- An openness to different views and appreciation of team diversity
- The ability to manage priorities to meet deadlines
- The ability to communicate effectively
- Fluency in additional languages
- Understanding of the local legal landscape in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine

About You And This Role
Do you want to join Dow's digital innovation journey? We are seeking Master and/or Ph.D. students interested to complement their primary expertise with Digital Internship in one of its European sites Terneuzen (Netherlands), Seneffe (Belgium), Tarragona (Spain), Correggio (Italy), Wiesbaden (Germany), KSA (Saudi Arabia), Virtual, or other locations depending on availability. You will be integrated in one of Dow’s key functions - Research and Development, Integrated Supply Chain, Operations (M&E), or Information Systems. You will work with a cross-functional team whose high-level goal is to accelerate the digital evolution of a global leader in the materials industry. You will bring your skills and experience to work with a group of domain experts to accelerate delivery of high priority projects. Goals of the project(s) could include delivering breakthrough sustainable chemistry innovations; advancing on a circular economy; producing better and safer materials; optimizing products and processes to reduce carbon footprint; optimizing planning, scheduling, and value chain to a greener chemistry; and other areas to help Dow reaching ambitious sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
We are seeking candidates who have expertise in computer science, analytics, machine learning, and/or other dimensions of data sciences, in addition to expertise in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, polymer science, theoretical modeling, operations management, and/or industrial engineering. We are offering project types that span from new capability developments, sustainability and circularity improvements, product and process research, application development, and operations improvements to supply chain optimization.
The specific opportunities, including project type, geography, and timing, are variable and detailed below.
Length of Assignment:
Preferable duration is 6 Months, but other duration could be arranged. This internship could be part, but not necessary, of a graduating school assignment. Working hours will be the local and legal equivalent of a full-time employee.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a MSc. Or Ph.D. degree program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, or other related disciplines
- Legally entitled by EU citizenship or by a valid VISA to work in the project country.
- Proficient in English
- Experienced in chemical, polymer, and/or material properties; manufacture and/or customer experience of materials; supply chains around manufacturing; and/or the computing/IT systems needed to accomplish the above.
- Primary expertise in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, polymer science, theoretical modeling, operations management, or other industrial engineering
- Educated with data science techniques such, machine learning, its applicability to industry, and potential for value creation
- Demonstrate competency in computer science, data analytics, and/or machine learning.
- Able to work independently but also in teams
- Great time-management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
