We are offering a postdoctoral researcher position to work in the areas of plasmonic nanoparticle synthesis and circular dichroism spectroscopy starting in September 2025.

We are a young, diverse and dynamic research group working in a newly founded Materials Interfaces & Colloid Engineering Laboratory in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in Terrassa (Barcelona), Spain.

Mission:

• Template-assisted synthesis and characterization of plasmonic nanoparticles.

Functions:

• Solution-based synthesis of plasmonic nanoparticles.
• Microscopic characterization of nanoparticles.
• Circular dichroism spectroscopic characterization.
• Assistance in supervision of PhD students.
• Manuscript/proposal preparation.

Technical Competencies:

• Preparation of colloids and plasmonic nanoparticles via solution-based methods.
• Colloidal self-assembly.
• Nanomaterials.
• Polymer science.
• Surface chemical characterization.
• Circular dichroism spectroscopy.
• Electron microscopy.

Organizational Skills:

• Research and laboratory data management (e.g. LIMS).
• Project management.
• MS Office.
• Origin.
• Reference management software.

Functional Competencies:

• Communication skills.

Educational requirements:

• PhD in Materials science, Nanotechnology, Physics, Chemistry or similar.

Professional experience:

• Participation and/or management of competitive research projects.
• Preparation of manuscripts/proposals.
• Experience in functions similar to those described, specifically in the development of research activities, both in the university and industrial environment, will be valued.

Compensation:

• Salary commensurate with postdoctoral research experience.
