Our one-year TEFL programs are meticulously designed to cater to a diverse group of individuals, including recent college graduates, seasoned educators, retirees, and those seeking a fresh start in their careers. Participants will engage in a comprehensive Spanish language program while gaining valuable teaching experience in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging English lessons to students across various age groups and backgrounds.
  • Participate in the initial Madrid Lifestyle Work Orientation to familiarize yourself with the local education landscape.
  • Actively engage in social and cultural activities to foster connections with your peers and the expatriate community.
  • Assist in identifying additional teaching opportunities throughout Madrid, enhancing your professional experience.

Required Skills

  • A passion for teaching and an ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Basic knowledge of the Spanish language is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and evolving educational setting.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a college degree (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • Previous teaching experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Open-minded individuals from all backgrounds, including retirees and those pursuing a career change, are encouraged to apply.

This program not only offers practical teaching experience but also extensive support in securing additional employment through our established network of partner English schools in Madrid. Participants will receive guidance on how to obtain private tutoring and online teaching opportunities, facilitating both personal and professional development during their stay in Spain.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay rate of 18€ for teaching English classes.
  • Access to a one-year student visa, permitting work for up to 30 hours per week.
  • Job placement with Canterbury English as well as additional opportunities in partner academies.
  • A ten-month, 20 hours/week Instituto Cervantes Accredited Spanish Program included in the program costs.
  • Participation in weekend cultural excursions and social activities through our Adventure Club, ensuring you are integrated into the community.
