Position Scope Core Responsibilities: Lead and manage teaching and learning, ensuring high educational standards across the Primary division.
Oversee student life, with responsibility for the welfare, behaviour, and personal development of all students.
Contribute actively as a member of the School Leadership Team (SLT) to all aspects of school strategic and daily operations. Leadership and Management: Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), which includes the Head of School, Business Operations Manager, Student Life Coordinator, and Curriculum Coordinator.Take full responsibility for the daily operations and coordination of the primary school.Lead the primary school team, fostering collaboration among classroom teachers and learning support specialists.Work closely with the HOS to formulate and periodically review the development plan, strategic objectives, and priorities for the Primary division, including:Reviewing and refining policies to support the achievement of these objectives.Lead and manage teaching and learning, ensuring high educational standards.
Oversee pastoral care, with responsibility for the welfare, behaviour, and personal development of all students.Monitoring progress and ensuring targets are met.Provide professional and personal support to primary school teaching staff, fostering a culture of growth and continuous development.Deputise for the HOS as required. Program Development and Oversight: Actively contribute to the development and growth of RWIS's core programmes, including character education, sustainability initiatives, and performing arts, ensuring they reflect the school's vision for holistic education.Lead the design and implementation of innovative projects and service-learning opportunities that foster student engagement with the local and global community. Human Resources: Line manage all primary school academic staff, with oversight of disciplinary matters.Conduct regular appraisals, lesson observations, and review action plans to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning.Use performance management systems to support the professional development of staff.Contribute to the recruitment and development of both teaching and non-teaching staff.Organise timetables and staff duties to ensure smooth operation and optimal resource allocation. Resource Management: Propose and manage the primary school academic budget, including department budgets, ensuring mission-driven spending and efficient use of resources.Plan and manage staffing, timetabling, and other operational needs. Leader of Learning Promote high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment practices across the primary division.Oversee the development, organisation, and implementation of the Early Years & Lower School curriculum, ensuring a cohesive and well-structured learning experience.Design and oversee an approach to assessment for learning and assessment of learning, ensuring clear reporting of assessment data, while using a data-driven approach to enhance teaching and learning.Incorporate elements of character development, design thinking, or service-learning into teaching practices, serving as a role model for staff in integrating these key areas into classroom instruction.Take responsibility for the policies and procedures governing the Primary School curriculum, including teaching, assessment, recording, and reporting.Ensure that the curriculum offers individual students a coordinated and comprehensive learning journey, in alignment with the school's values and standards.Ensure appropriate support mechanisms are in place for students of all abilities, identifying and addressing their needs effectively. Student Life: Work with the Student Life Coordinator in the development and implementation of policies and programs focused on the personal, social, and emotional development of students.Oversee the induction process for new students, ensuring that appropriate groupings are established.Promote positive behaviours and respect among students, fostering a culture of care and kindness.Manage the escalation of individual student behavioural concerns, ensuring a restorative approach.Communicate effectively with staff and students, ensuring the timely flow of information and addressing concerns as needed.Ensure the welfare and well-being of every student, providing a supportive and inclusive environment, using a restorative approach.Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies as required, providing support to meet individual student needs. Community Engagement: Act as a key authority and point of contact for parents and guardians, ensuring effective communication and fostering a welcoming school environment.Promote the participation of the school community in achieving goals and maintaining a respectful, safe learning environment. Teaching Responsibilities: In addition to leadership duties, the Primary School Principal will maintain a roughly 50% teaching allotment within the primary division.

Working as a classroom or specialist subject teacher.Providing learning support for students requiring additional assistance.Acting as an English as an Additional Language (EAL) specialist, supporting multilingual learners. Ideal CandidateQualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's degree preferred).Proven leadership experience in a primary school setting, ideally within an international school context.Experience with the Cambridge International Curriculum, British National Curriculum, or IB Primary Years Program (PYP).Strong teaching experience in primary education, with expertise in classroom teaching, learning support, or EAL.
