The CECT is the only public Microbial Biological Resource Centre (mBRC) in Spain serving as a repository and provider of bacteria, archaea, yeast and filamentous fungi. We provide strains and microbiological-related research services to public and private organizations. We are partners of MIRRI-ERIC (www.mirri.org), the European Research Infrastructure promoting microbial science and innovation in the domains of Health & Food, Agro-Food and Environment & Energy.

In the frame of the new Horizon Europe project MALDIBANK we are seeking for a researcher to manage the project and perform laboratory tasks related to the identification of strains by MALDI-TOF.

Qualification or Degree: Biology, Biotechnology, or equivalent qualifications.

MERITS (SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE)

- Experience in microorganism collections (preferred) or in microbiology laboratories, particularly in identification and authentication techniques (MALDI-TOF)

- Experience in the management/participation of research projects related to microbial diversity (preferred) or in the life sciences field

- Proven ability to transfer knowledge and communicate scientific results

- Full professional proficiency in English

Analysis of MALDI-TOF profiles and support for the management of the MALDIBANK project

WORKPLACE PROFILE

Specialized technician in the identification and authentication of microorganisms by molecular methods

DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED BY THE HIRED INDIVIDUAL

- Obtaining total protein profiles (MALDI-TOF)

- Documentation and analysis of the obtained profiles

- Coordination and management of tasks derived from participation in the MALDIBANK project

- Attending project meetings and preparing documents, meeting minutes, and result reports

- Availability to travel, mainly to European cities
