About The School
International College Spain is an international community school that is committed to providing every child with all they need to be successful in the future.
The school was founded in 1980 by the late entrepreneur and philanthropist, Manouchehr Farhangi, and has grown to become one of the leading international IB Continuum schools in Europe.
One of the first schools in the world to provide all three IB programmes, our staff have a wealth of IB experience and knowledge leading not only to outstanding academic results but also to producing students who make a difference in the world. Boarding Management
Support the Director of Boarding in ensuring high standards of discipline, tidiness, and presentation among pupils.
Take responsibility for the pastoral care and well-being of pupils in their care, as directed by the Director of Boarding.
Support the Director of Boarding in coordinating and staffing leisure activities for pupils, as well as contributing in such ways as deemed appropriate to run co-curricular activities or games.
The House Parent may also take on some routine administration. The House Parent is to be available to assist fully at the beginning and end of terms, at special events, and on Parents’ Weekends as required by the Headmaster.
Support the House Parent in ensuring all boarders have sufficient rest, and that bedtime and morning routines appropriate to the age group are established and maintained with care.
Undertake as directed a number of specific tasks/duties within the boarding house.
Be attentive to the needs of new pupils and help with new pupil induction to provide a safe, nurturing, and well-being environment for boarding students.
Monitor boarding students’ personal, academic progress, programme of activities, and achievements.
Provide a high quality of pastoral care, “in loco parentis” (listening, caring, follow-up), in coordination with the School Counselling department and school nurses when appropriate.
Provide a good follow-up to each single student and keep the Head of Boarding informed as well as parents.
Implement the Boarding House Code of Conduct and House rules, ensuring that alongside sanctions, rewards are also provided for the deserving boarders.
Contribute to the development and expansion of the Boarding Department.
Promote acceptance of other cultures from within the Boarding House.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor general boarding routine.
Care for and supervise students and act in loco parentis.
Contribute to the activity program.
Communicate effectively with parents, agents, management, and teachers.
Ensure the fabric of the House is taken care of.
Skills And Competencies
Possession of a teaching qualification would be an asset.
Previous experience in pastoral care and previous work experience with children aged 11-18.
Good interpersonal skills, particularly with students.
Excellent communication skills. Excellent English skills – desired good knowledge of Spanish.
Pressure resilient and well-organized.
Commitment to Personal and Professional Development
Participate in and fully engage with the school’s performance management and appraisal process.
Demonstrate continuous professional and personal development through the identification and implementation of individual development plans arising from company and school performance management and appraisal processes.
