Pleo
Staff Product Manager - Payments
Pleo · Madrid, ES
Teletrabajo API REST SaaS Office
Valued. Empowered. Impactful.
Is this how you want to feel about your work each week? If so, this role might be for you. We’re searching for a Staff Product Manager to lead the development of Pleo's payment platform, the backbone of not just our product but our company. You’ll manage multiple teams while helping shape the overall direction of payments in Pleos, helping us deliver solutions that make a real difference to our customers. If this gets you excited, keep reading!
As I was writing this job post I sat down with Stefan our Head of Platform and asked a bit bluntly - how come you are so excited about payments? Here is what he answered: I used to think payments were just a basic process—something you never really think about. But after learning more in my previous role, I became fascinated. Payments are everywhere. They keep the world moving, help people grow, and are often the only part of banking that feels personal. What makes them exciting is the challenge. You’re dealing with legacy systems, financial risks, regulations, and compliance—all while building something customers didn’t think was possible. At Pleo, we’re creating a payment platform that’s not just functional but transformative. And we need a Staff Product Manager to help make it happen. You’ll work with me and Alexander Cogneau, on tough problems like fraud prevention and making global transactions seamless.
If this sounds exciting to you, let’s talk!
What does the Payments Platform team do?
At Pleo, we simplify company spending. Our platform, which includes both software and payment products, takes the stress out of expense management. But we’re not just about making things easier—we also innovate. Our payment solutions cover card transactions, invoice payments, reimbursements, and more.
Our goal is straightforward: to create payment experiences that customers love. Every transaction matters, and we’re here to make them seamless, reliable, and impactful.
What will you be doing?
As the Staff Product Manager in Payments, you will:
- Set direction: Work with your teams, customers, and leadership to shape the vision for Pleo’s payments platform
- Drive results: Define and track KPIs to measure success, keeping your teams aligned with the company’s goals
- Collaborate deeply: Partner with Engineering Managers and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery and continuous improvement
- Elevate the craft: Strengthen product management practices at Pleo, helping PMs across the organization grow
- Be a thought leader: Ensure Pleo a trusted name in payments and financial services
- Go deep: Help to dismantle the complexity of payments into viable products and solutions
- Have deep experience in the European financial services sector, particularly in card and account to account payments
- Communicate with clarity and purpose, inspiring teams and aligning stakeholders
- Are comfortable rolling up your sleeves and working through technical and payment challenges with the team's engineers
- Balance big-picture strategy with the ability to zoom in on day-to-day details
- Rely on data and customer feedback to guide decisions and prioritize effectively
- Being able to go into the details of API design, payment messages or whatever is required
- Are passionate about developing people and creating an inclusive, collaborative team environment
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment where challenges are opportunities
- Drive to stay hands-on as a senior individual contributor, actively shaping solutions and leading by example
- Raise the bar on the product management craft within the company
- Play a key role in shaping the future of payments at Pleo, where your work will have a clear and lasting impact
- Impact and growth, talking to the people in payments they tell us that their growth and impact is only limited by themself
- Join a company culture that values curiosity, creativity, and having fun along the way
- Be part of a high-growth journey where your ideas and leadership will truly matter
We’re changing how companies manage spending. Gone are the days of messy receipts and tedious expense reports. At Pleo, we empower businesses to delegate spending to employees while maintaining full control. Our platform blends an intuitive SaaS tool with robust financial infrastructure, creating something both practical and delightful.
We pride ourselves on being user-focused—just check out our reviews on Trustpilot! We’re on an exciting growth journey, and we’d love for you to join us.
If this sounds like the kind of challenge you’re ready for, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today, and let’s shape the future of payments together.
Show me the benefits!
- Your own Pleo card (no more out-of-pocket spending!)

Working at Pleo means you're working on something very exciting: the future of work. Our mission is to help every company go beyond the books. Pleo itself means ‘more than you’d expect’, and it’s been the secret to our success over the last 8 years. So it’s only fitting that we’d pass this philosophy onto our customers to help them make the most of their finances.
We think company spending should be delegated to all employees and teams, that it should be as automated as possible, and that it should drive a culture of responsible spending. Finance teams shouldn’t be siloed from the rest of the organisation – they should work in unity with marketing, sales, IT and everyone else.
Speaking of working in unity, our values tell the story of how we work at Pleo. We have four core values, the first of which is ‘champion the customer’, which means we address real pain points that businesses face. Next up is ‘succeed as a team’, which highlights how our strength lies in our diversity and trust in each other. We also ‘make it happen’ by taking bold decisions and following through to deliver results. Last but not least, we ‘build to scale’, creating lasting solutions that address today’s challenges and anticipate tomorrow’s needs.
So, in a nutshell, that's Pleo. Today we are a 850+ team, from over 100 nations, sitting in our Copenhagen HQ, London, Stockholm, Berlin, Madrid, Montreal and Lisbon offices —and quite a few full-time remotes in 35 other countries! Being HQ'd out of Copenhagen means we're inspired by things like a good work-life balance. If you don't work in the office with us, we'll help you set up the best remote setup possible and make sure you still have time to connect with your team.
