The Bioengineering Department of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) is seeking candidates for APPLYING FOR STEP grants to hire research staff in training (FI-STEP) for young scientists from the national and international community who wish to undertake a doctoral degree in bioengineering.
This PhD project will focus on developing novel biomaterials for Regenerative Therapies.
The key research areas include biomaterial synthesis and characterization, 3D bioprinting, cell-material interactions and applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
Main tasks and responsibilities / The successful candidate will develop research involving: Perform research with the highest standards.
Communication and dissemination of your research to expert and public audiences.
Contribute to the drafting and submitting of papers to peer reviewed journals.
Mentoring of bachelor's and master's degree students.
The position will have some teaching (up to 10 credits) that will be performed by the candidate.
The teaching will be matched with the candidate's background.
What we offer Full-time, fixed term contract as Predoctoral fellow at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) in the Sant Cugat Campus in Barcelona.
The predoctoral studies can be extended up to four years.
Unlimited access to all the needed equipment to perform the projects (3D printers, characterization techniques, …).
Engaging in interdisciplinary research within a high-caliber international scientific environment, fostering mentorship.

Who we are?
The Bioengineering section of the department of basic sciences developed materials and systems that stimulate the regeneration of damaged tissue.
We are a team of researchers from various fields of knowledge, ensuring the promotion of multidisciplinary research.
Several of its researchers are listed in the ranking World's Top 2% Scientists and have attracted talent from various competitive calls (such as Juan de la Cierva, Ramón y Cajal…).
The group has published in the last five years in high impact factor journals such as Progress in Materials Science, Materials Today, Materials Horizons, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Advanced Materials, Advanced Healthcare Materials, Nanomedicine, Acta Biomaterialia and Biomaterials among others.
Requirements for candidates: Degree in Bioengineering Science, Biomedical engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Biomaterials or related field.
An official Spanish bachelor's degree or equivalent and a university master's degree or equivalent, together comprising a total of at least 300 ECTS credits.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a group.
High level of English (both oral and written) Motivated, organized, and with initiative, and a strong capacity to work in multidisciplinary teams Good skills in communication, teamwork, proactivity, commitment, integrity, time management, critical and analytical thinking, precision and focus.
