Description

As a Learning Director, you are uniquely placed to support and collaborate with a wide spectrum of colleagues within and across schools, the Regional Team, and the Central ISP Learning and Innovation Team. You are critical to the implementation and success of all elements included in the ISP Learning and Innovation Strategy and are accountable for delivering the key goals of Embedding Quality, Improve Offering and Build Talent. The RLD’s success and ability to impact on the learning of thousands of students is built upon the positive relationships and partnerships that are developed and nurtured. For this role in the iSP Iberia Region, the successful candidate, will need to travel across all the schools and also to attend conferences in the Madrid Head Office.

Reporting Lines

Report directly to the RMD, with a dotted line working closely with the DCLO (Divisional Chief Learning Officer) to deliver the L&I Strategy and KPIs.

Overarching Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and model that our students come first, always.
  • Promote and facilitate the use of ISP’s Learning.First. Framework to Embed Quality in all schools.
  • Collaborate with the DCLO to implement the L&I Strategy and achieve KPIs.
  • Ensure Senior Leaders understand and communicate ISP’s offerings and expectations, enabling full use of the framework to impact student and adult learning. Continuously initiate and facilitate professional dialogue that focuses school leaders on improving student learning.
  • Consistently use and reinforce ISP’s Shared Ideas and learning language for
  • consistency among leaders and regional colleagues.
  • Demonstrate A Focus on Learners and Learning by actively looking for and identifying examples of excellent practice and Amazing Learning in the region.
  • Partner with Marketing, Admissions, and Retention to showcase excellent practice and Amazing Learning.
  • Manage the schools in the region strategically and efficiently to maximize impact and progress.

Partnerships

  • Embody the ISP Principles, building trust and enhancing the Atmosphere within the various teams that you work with.
  • Facilitate collaborations and communities of practice to enhance leadership, teaching, and learning.
  • Coach and mentor Senior Leaders, both in-person and remotely, to strengthen their leadership of learning.
  • Support and collaborate with your fellow RLDs across the ISP Group to develop consistency and quality in how the role supports schools.
  • Facilitate collaborations across schools that drive improvements in learning.
  • Openly reflect on your successes and your failures with the team in a way that encourages others to do the same, thereby supporting our collective ongoing development and getting better.
  • Advocate & promote ISP's School Learning Review and other external parties, to enhance and maximize the benefits of these initiatives and innovations.
  • Work with the RMD and Regional team to balance financial and enrolment targets with educational priorities.

The Learning Improvement Process

  • Promote ISPs LIP as a critical foundation for consistently driving all learning improvement in every school.
  • Challenge schools to get better at evaluating evidence to support judgements against all of the 47 indicators.
  • Support and direct schools in making progress against the 9 criteria and thereby moving from Beginning to Developing to Mastering.
  • Ensure all schools have accurate and robust self-evaluations and improvement plans against the 9 criteria.
  • Participate and lead in ISP Learning Review teams both in-region and out-of-region, facilitating pre and post-review calls and contact with the Review team, and ensuring that key targets and actions identified are delivered within appropriate timelines.

Learning Improvement Planning

  • Hold Heads and Leadership teams accountable for annual Learning Improvement Planning that focuses explicitly on student learning and getting better against the 9 Criteria.
  • Coach and mentor Senior Leaders to create clear targets and action plans. Utilize the Learning Hub to develop staff and improve learning for each school.
  • Strategically monitor and support the schools’ progress during the year
  • Collect and evaluate the schools’ learning targets at a regional level and identify areas for development across the region.

Leading The Learning

  • Ensure that all Senior Leaders know and understand all the elements and practices
  • related to ISP’s Leading the Learning.
  • Develop leaders' ability to use real-time evidence to improve student learning and teaching practices.
  • Moderate Senior Leaders' practices to ensure consistency in learning experiences for teachers through Learning Design, Inquiries, and Visits.
  • Ensure consistency and security in the data relating to the quality and quantity of learning being collected locally and regionally.

Evidence Of Learning (Academic Achievement)

  • Ensure that Heads and Senior Leaders know the ISP Learning KPIs; they know why each one is valuable, how they are collected and reported, and when the school is expected to communicate them to you.
  • Evaluate and triangulate various types and sources of Evidence of Learning,
  • Promote high-quality analysis of learning data (e.g., exam results, surveys, visit data) and ensure leaders have access to necessary systems.
  • Review and analyze large quantities of learning evidence and data at a regional level, using them to identify opportunities for collaboration and sharing of good practice across different schools.
  • Communicate benchmarking information back to schools and support connections with similar ISP schools.
  • Hold Senior Leaders to account in effectively using relevant Evidence of Learning to inform their Learning Improvement Planning and associated actions and investments.

Learning Pillars (Multilingualism, Future Pathways, Life Competencies, ILOS)

  • Ensure that all Regional Pillar Leaders know and understand all the elements and practices related to the Learning Pillars that they are responsible for.
  • Develop Pillar Leader’s ability to use the Pillar Roadmap to support the school in their self-evaluation of how the embedding of the Learning Pillar they are responsible for is impacting students’ learning.
  • Moderate Pillar Leaders’ practices to ensure consistency and best practice is shared across the region.
  • Hold Pillar Leaders to account in meeting any KPIs linked to the Learning Pillar that they are responsible for.

Assemble Talent

  • Support the development and delivery of the leadership programmes to strengthen
  • Leadership for Learning.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all participants in your region and actively contribute to their development where possible and appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Group Head of Teacher Professional Learning and Development and support Senior Leaders with the ongoing development of teaching practice through the ISP Teacher Role Profile and associated Teacher Self-Evaluation.
  • Promote the ISP Learning Hub in your region and have a competent knowledge of the learning environment and the courses and resources provided.
  • Provide support to leaders to review usage and completion rates for courses, to better onboard new staff, and develop existing staff to improve learning.
  • Share feedback to the ISP Digital Learning Team that enables the ongoing improvement and development of the Digital Learning Offer.

Collaborate With Regional HR, RMD, And School Heads To

  • Identify potential future Heads and those needing support.
  • Develop a talent pool and succession plan for Senior Leaders, using professional learning opportunities at all levels.

Onboarding

  • Collaborate with the ISP Investments and Partnerships Team by leading learning due diligence for new and onboarding schools.
  • Act as an ambassador for ISP and model the Shared Ideas and A Focus on Learners and Learning that makes ISP unique as a school's group and potential partner.
  • Communicate and build relationships with potential new Heads, school owners, and Senior Leaders that lay the foundations for a positive and efficient onboarding.
  • Make informed judgements, either in school or from a distance, about the likely current performance of the school, which you report formally in the Learning and Education Review.
  • Reevaluate new schools against the 9 criteria within the first 90 days, reporting on learning quality, impacting factors, and leadership capacity to implement ISP’s Learning Strategy.
  • Create an air of excitement and anticipation in the school, establishing early connections with key Senior Leaders that will ensure the school’s rapid adaptation and adoption of ISP’s Learning.First. Framework.

Managing Teams: performance reviews and people development

  • Conduct regular performance reviews to assess individual and team achievements, providing constructive feedback and setting clear objectives to positively impact learning teams across the region.
  • Develop and implement strategies for team performance improvement, aligning goals with ISP Road Maps, achieving KPIs and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance their skills and capabilities, supporting career development through personalized development plans.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting effective communication, trust, and accountability among team members.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for skill development within the team, leveraging resources to support professional growth and knowledge enhancement.
  • Monitor team dynamics and morale, addressing challenges promptly and promoting a positive work culture that values diversity and innovation whilst being strategic with change to teams to meet the needs of our changing school and regional context.
