As an Art Lead, you will play a pivotal role in influencing and shaping the game’s creative vision, art execution, and overall player experience—from early ideation to market launch. You will partner closely with the Art Director, Product Directors, Game Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure the successful development, iteration, and release of compelling mobile games.
Beyond delivering stunning visuals, this role is about strategy, leadership, and innovation. In addition to developing and refining the art direction, pipeline workflows, and team strategy, you will mentor and guide a team of talented artists across multiple workstreams, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for your artists´ professional and personal growth as well as bringing the team together and driving the team spirit and collaboration culture.
Responsibilities
*Creative & Strategic Leadership*
- Own and drive the creative direction for the game, ensuring all artistic elements align with business objectives and player experience goals.
- Influence and shape the game’s visual style from concept through launch, ensuring a cohesive look, feel, and tone of voice.
- Champion innovation by exploring and implementing new visual approaches that enhance gameplay and engagement.
- Ensure artistic consistency and quality across all assets, balancing high-fidelity visuals with clarity and gameplay readability.
*Team Leadership & Management*
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of artists across various disciplines, ensuring clear direction, collaboration, and growth.
- Establish and communicate team objectives, ensuring alignment with the overall game and company vision.
- Build and maintain trust within the team by providing consistent feedback, support, and career development guidance.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, encouraging ownership, creativity, and accountability.
*Project Execution & Coordination*
- Oversee art production pipelines and workflows, optimizing efficiency and ensuring seamless cross-department collaboration.
- Work closely with production teams to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure project deadlines and milestones are met.
- Coordinate with game designers, developers, and product managers to ensure art direction enhances gameplay and player engagement.
- Adapt and problem-solve when technical or production challenges arise, ensuring a smooth development process.
*Operational Excellence*
- Establish and refine standardized processes to improve asset creation, implementation, and iteration cycles.
- Own the creation and delivery of compelling art concepts that enable effective market testing and prototype validation.
- Leverage data and player insights to iterate on visual styles and optimize the player experience.
- Ensure technical constraints and optimizations are accounted for in asset creation, maintaining performance and quality across all platforms.
What We´re Looking For
*Required Experience & Skills*
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing a team of artists in a mobile game development environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in mobile game art development, from concept through completion.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with experience managing artists at different career levels.
- Proven ability to develop and execute art strategies that align with game and business objectives.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of art pipelines, production tools, and optimization techniques in a game development setting.
- Ability to create and guide a wide range of game assets, ensuring consistency and quality across all visual elements.
- Familiarity with market testing and iterative development processes.
- Experience working on a game from prototype to launch.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Passion for mobile gaming and industry trends, with a keen eye for innovation and player expectations.
