Gallery Assistant Internship (Milano & Madrid)

About Us: We are a international contemporary art gallery with locations in both Milano and Madrid. Our gallery is dedicated to promoting emerging and established artists through curated exhibitions, art fairs, and special projects. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Gallery Assistant Intern to join our dynamic team in both locations.
Position Overview: The Gallery Assistant Intern will provide comprehensive support in daily gallery operations, including administrative tasks, social media management, website maintenance, inventory updates, press release writing, and logistics. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the art gallery sector and enhancing their skills in a vibrant, international environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
- Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks and gallery operations.
- Manage correspondence, including emails and phone calls.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate meetings.
Social Media Management:
- Create, curate, and manage content across various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
- Monitor and respond to audience engagement and feedback.
- Analyze social media performance and suggest improvements.
Website Maintenance:
- Update and maintain the gallery’s website using Wix.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date information on exhibitions, artists, and events.
- Upload high-quality images and videos of artworks.
Inventory Management:
- Assist in updating and maintaining the gallery’s inventory system.
- Ensure accurate documentation and cataloging of artworks.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and audits.
Press Release Writing:
- Write and distribute press releases for upcoming exhibitions and events.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling content.
- Maintain relationships with media contacts and assist with PR efforts.
Logistics and Shipping:
- Coordinate the packing, shipping, and installation of artworks for exhibitions and art fairs.
- Liaise with shipping companies and ensure compliance with customs regulations.
- Manage documentation for international and domestic shipments.
Event Support:
- Assist with the planning and execution of gallery events, openings, and private views.
- Provide on-site support during events, including guest management and hospitality.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with social media platforms and content management.
- Familiarity with website editing tools, particularly Wix.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and engaging press releases.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of logistics and shipping procedures is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Italian (for Milano) or Spanish (for Madrid); additional languages are an advantage.
