About BSC

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries.

If you consider that you do not meet all the requirements, we encourage you to continue applying for the job offer. We value diversity of experiences and skills, and you could bring unique perspectives to our team.

Context And Mission

Enhancing the capabilities of existing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools for engineering design is essential, and this can be achieved by re-engineering them for extreme-scale parallel computing platforms. The Large-scale Computational Fluid Dynamics (LS/CFD) team's core belief is that the potential of cutting-edge High-Performance Computing (HPC) architectures is not fully harnessed by current industrial simulation tools. Modern industrial solvers fail to leverage the full potential of new hardware architectures, including streaming processors and many-core platforms. A concerted research effort in innovative numerical methods, more precise physical models, algorithms, and HPC applications is crucial to evolve and refine simulation tools that can fulfill the demands of the European industry. The LS/CFD team is dedicated to developing numerical tools, turbulence models, multi-physics algorithms, data-driven methodologies, and large-scale industrial simulations.

The chosen candidate will be involved in creating novel multi-phase methods optimized for GPUs within various European and National initiatives.

Key Duties

  • Lead two fluids activities to be carried out by BSC in the LS/CFD team
  • Interact with the different collaborators of the LS/CFD team to carry out our collaborative research
