- Introduction to the vacant position:The Biosensors for Bioengineering Group is looking for an Early Stage Researcher to work on the development of 3D skeletal muscle tissue integrated within microfluidic organ-on-chip devices. The contract will be within the framework of the MORFEO project (Muscle-on-a-chip approach to reproduce fibrotic processes in engineered 3D co-culture organoids for Muscular Dystrophy), whose main objective is the development of Muscle-on-chip devices to model DMD and Col6-related myopathies.Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop and characterise 3D tissue co-cultures of skeletal muscle tissues from patient-derived cells.
- Design and fabricate microfluidic devices.
- Integrate the platform to drug testing assays.Requirements for candidates:Essential:
- Degree in any field in Biomedical Engineering or similar.
- Experience in cell culture and Molecular Biology.
- Experience in microfabrication techniques will be a plus.
- Experience in microphysiological systems and tissue engineering will be a plus.Competencies and skills:
- Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
- High level of English.Advantageous:
- Experience in skeletal muscle research.
- Experience in muscular dystrophy research.
- Experience in 3D design and printing.We Offer:
- Number of available positions: 1.
- Starting date: September 16th 2024.
- Full-time 2 years employment contract. Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
