Automation Engineer Data Warehouse

With your work as an Automation Engineer at Bank, you contribute to consistent and automated ETL flows in data warehouses. This ensures that we, as a bank, have reliable datasets and reports available more quickly.

You make the lives of the modelers at Bank much easier. With the tooling you facilitate for them, they can model data models and mappings much faster. You then ensure that these are correctly deployed on our AWS platform and create functionalities for automatic testing using Cucumber. The modelers work with PowerDesigner. And yes, sometimes an extra function in the software would be very handy for them. In such cases, you take action and program an extension in Python that makes them happy. Additionally, you and your fellow engineers provide support to the modelers. If they encounter an error message, you investigate and come up with a solution.

In a relatively short time, our development street has grown significantly. With your insight, you can quickly determine if and where a small change can have an impact on the system. This is an important quality that you use daily to contribute to the higher performance of the teams that provide reliable figures. This allows us, as a bank, to account to the regulator and ensure that we continue to bank with a human touch.

Where you will work: In the Finance Data & Reporting department, various development teams are working daily to create models and mappings that guarantee reliable figures and reports. You are part of a group of automation engineers who facilitate the teams with tooling. The work is done according to the agile and scrum methods. Everyone in the team reviews each other´s work. When you have completed a design, you present it to your colleagues and the modelers, explaining your design choices. Your qualities: You make complex matters easily understandable and, with your technical insight, you come up with innovative solutions and new ideas. Together with your team, you ensure optimal performance and the development and management of the required functionality. You quickly feel at home in a team, are always ready to help colleagues, and work structured with an eye for results.

Furthermore, you have:

• At least a bachelor´s degree, preferably in business informatics or business administration.
• Experience with data warehouses and experience with Power Designer is a plus (developing Power Designer extensions).
• Knowledge of (relational) databases, data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and data modeling.
• Excellent experience with SQL and Python for programming extensions.
• Preferably knowledge of Java or Groovy for programming Jenkins, and experience with a cloud platform (preferably AWS).
• Experience with the Teradata platform is a plus.
• Knowledge of Git, Bitbucket, SourceTree, and Cucumber.
• Experience with agile development methods, such as scrum and DevOps.
• Experience with creating automation scripts in a similar environment where DWH automation is implemented.
