WHO ARE WE?

Sateliot is a Barcelona-based Startup in the New Space sector, becoming the first satellite

telecommunications operator that will provide global and continuous connectivity to all the elements that will make up the massive Internet of Things (IoT) universe under the 5G protocol.

In order to do so, Sateliot is launching a constellation of last generation nanosatellites, located at low altitude that act as mobile towers. Sateliot is the perfect complement for large telecommunications companies by providing them with the necessary infrastructure where terrestrial technologies do not arrive.

YOUR MISSION

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Research Patent Engineer to join our R&D team. In this hybrid role, you will work at the intersection of research, development, and intellectual property, contributing both to the creation of novel technologies and the protection of our inventions.

In this hybrid role you will work closely with the engineering and R&D teams to identify patentable

inventions, perform prior art searches, support the drafting of patent applications, and assist in managing and monitoring our growing patent portfolio. This includes coordinating with external IP counsels, tracking filing deadlines, and supporting the strategic alignment of our IP assets with business and research goals.

Simultaneously, you will participate in the full lifecycle of national and European research and innovation projects, from early-stage conception and planning to hands-on execution, prototyping, and testing of technical solutions.

YOUR KEY RESPONSABILITIES

● Conduct prior art and patentability searches using relevant databases and tools.

● Assist in drafting patent applications and preparing invention disclosures.

● Coordinate with external IP counsel and patent attorneys during prosecution.

● Track deadlines and maintain accurate records related to the patent portfolio.

● Support IP strategy alignment with R&D and business objectives.

● Support the preparation of grant applications and research proposals.

● Develop, prototype, and test innovative technical solutions aligned with project goals.

● Prepare and contribute to technical documentation, reports, and project deliverables.

● Collaborate with internal teams and external partners across multidisciplinary domains.

REQUIREMENTS

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunication ,Electronics, Computer Engineering or a

related technical field.

● Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.

● Passion for reading, researching, and understanding complex technical concepts.

● Ability to clearly document and communicate technical ideas.

● Interest in intellectual property, innovation processes, and technology strategy.

● Basic understanding of mobile communication networks, particularly LTE/5G architectures.

● Basic programming skills (e.g., Python or similar).

● Fluent in English, both written and spoken

NICE TO HAVE

● Familiarity with cloud-native technologies (e.g.Docker and Kubernetes) for application

deployment and orchestration.

● Practical experience in IoT development, including familiarity with embedded systems, sensor

integration, and communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, CoAP, LoRa, NB-IoT).

● Familiarity with satellite communications and non-terrestrial networks.
